To ensure convenient entry to the country for those registered to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Azerbaijan has pulled out all the stops and come up with a top-notch system for applications for the “Special COP29 Visa,”
“COP29 Special Visa” will be a single entry visa. If a participant wants to leave the country and return to Azerbaijan during COP29, he will have to apply for a “COP29 Special Visa” once again by using his UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) registration number and replicate the process he went through earlier.
Furthermore, it is noted that the passports of all foreign participants visiting Azerbaijan for COP29 and pre-sessional meetings must be valid for at least six months after the date of entry into the country. Moreover, after confirming the registration of participants through the UNFCCC online registration system, a link for visa applications will be sent to them by e-mail confirming their registration with the UNFCCC. The “COP29 Special Visa” will indicate the date of issuance of the visa, and it will be valid until November 30, 2024. Visa holders must enter Azerbaijan before this date.
The participants should fill out the form by entering the visa portal through the link, upload the necessary documents, and send them for approval.
After verification, the participants will be sent a visa confirmation link via email to download the ‘COP29 Special Visa’ from the website. Participants are advised to apply for the “Special Visa” immediately after confirming their enrollment at UNFCCC. To track the status of the visa, the link to the visa portal should be used in the UNFCCC registration confirmation email.
As in every COP conference, this year’s COP29 is expected to be attended by a wide range of media representatives. For this reason, it is recommended to submit applications in a short period of time to ensure efficient organization of media participation and to carry out all necessary technical preparations. To get more detailed information about the procedure, you can contact the e-mail address mediaaccreditation@cop29.az.
